Seaside holiday on Usedom

This sunny island is about 3 ½ hours' drive from Berlin. Air Berlin offers budget rates on the Vienna– Berlin route. A car rental (eurocar also has city offices) brings us to our destination via the pier: „Das Ahlbeck“, directly on the promenade of the town of the same name.

Hardly had the car come to a stop, my lads (Nils, 5 and Lars, almost 2) cannot be held back.

" Come Mummy, quickly to the sea!“, yells Nils and Lars pulls like mad on my hand. It is not far: the beach is directly beyond the promenade. The sand is white and clean. I promise the kids that we will hire a 'Strandkorb' and test the water temperature later, because now I want to occupy our room.

Five minutes later we are there. Separate living/sleeping area, kitchenette, large bath. Everything tastefully furnished. The best is the balcony with sea view: here we have an exclusive view of the famous Usedom pier.

"Mummy, hunger!" Nils brings me back to earth. Time to try out the cuisine. The children are excited to discover they can site on the terrace in a genuine Strandkorb. And tomorrow we can look forward to a long day on the beach. Usedom we'll come again! DAS AHLBECK Hotel & SPA
