Filet of Baltic sea salmon in XXL-Strandkorbs Room with a view
It is the most beautiful place: on the promenade, which at 8.5 km long holds the European record, a coach drawn by white horses rattles by. A few meters away the glittery powdery sand trickles between the toes of bare beachcombers. Your attention turns to Germany's oldest pier with the wooden restaurant building with a tower at each corner. The vantage point for the sea and people is the terrace of the hotel "Das Ahlbeck“ in Ahlbeck on Usedom. Twelve Strandkorbs (beach chairs) in XXL format are arranged there in a semi-circle. The friendly young service team brings filet of Baltic Sea salmon or waffles with icecream and hot cherries to the guests. Between pinot gris from Saxony and cappuccino, Petra Bensemann welcomes the guests, who large come from West Germany.
The enthusiastic hotel director is an "Ahlbeck child," proud of her homeland and ambitious gastronomic front woman for tourism on the island. With the hotel "Das Ahlbeck“ on the promenade, she directs one of the three 4-star hotels on Usedom. Three years ago, private investors from Ostfriesland created a combination of elegant old and comfortable new buidings from the former villa (1884), the naval hospital (1945) and the holiday home of the former East German labour union federation. The result is described as a "boutique“- hotel. In 18 rooms and 32 apartment suits, this objective is fulfilled with individual, harmonious interiors.
The director is proud of the spa area. The facility which is graded by the German wellness federation as excellent has an area of 1200 sqm with sauna, 6.5 x 20 swimming pool, fitness room as well as massage and beauty department. This is where dune dreams come true – on a bed of warm sand. tü-
