THE THREE KAISER RESORTS
The Three Kaiser Resorts of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin, seaside resorts with a great history and full of charm and warmth. With their endless white sands that are up to 70 metres wide, they hold out the prospect of pure relaxation. The 3 Kaiser resorts are among the most attractive bathing resorts in the beautiful landscape of the island of Usedom, which by the way with 1906 hours of sunshine each year is the sunniest region in Germany. Most of the 80 hotels and boarding houses in the 3 Kaiser resorts are villas built in the classical style –restored architectural gems from the time of Kaiser Wilhelm II that help make the resorts so attractive for visitors and residents alike.
Of the three piers, the Ahlbeck pier (the "Centurian") with its red roof, its four green towers and the 280-metre long jetty is the most famous landmark on the Island of Usedom and the only one of its kind that still exists on the German Baltic coast. The 508-metre Heringsdorf pier is the longest structure of its kind in Continental Europe. Based on the historical model, a new pier with shop galleries, art gallery, two museums, cafés, restaurants and recreational facilities was inaugurated in 1996. The Bansin pier is understated and simple. Like its big sisters it is a popular destination both for visitors in search of a bracing stroll and for coastal pleasure cruisers. |
